Lynn Gadal/Artist

I was born in Chicago, Illinois and raised in Venice, California.  At a very early age, I found that drawing and painting fit my inner need to express myself. All through school I continued to take art classes, and in high school I won three consecutive art scholarships, attending Saturday morning classes at the Chouinard Art Institute & Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles.  Chouinard Art Institute has become known as California Institute of the Arts in Valencia, Ca.

I studied design, drawing and painting with Donald Graham, Bill Moore, Herb Jepsen, and oil painting with Joseph Mugnaini.  My continued art education included figure drawing, lithography, oil painting and sculpture.

My love of nature and landscape also include subjects having to do with the sky, clouds, and the cosmic world beyond.  Watercolor is my medium of choice although I enjoy working with acrylics and experimenting with new materials.  I have been published in The Best of Watercolor, Light and Composition, Rockport Publishers, Gloucester, Massachusetts.

My paintings are in several private collections, and I am a signature member of the National Watercolor Society, the Niagara Frontier Watercolor Society, and an Active member of Women Painters West, and an Associate member of Watercolor West.  I have served as a board member for several years and president of Women Painters West and previously a board member of Watercolor West.  I exhibit locally and nationally, and have won numerous awards, one of which was 1st place at the TAG Gallery in Santa Monica, CA. I exhibited a small watercolor in an International Exhibition in Shenzhen, China with selected members of the National Watercolor Society.

I have given several watercolor workshops at such places as The New Chouinard Art Institute formerly located in Pasadena, Ca, and at Coos Bay Art Museum, Coos Bay, Oregon, and did an art demo at the Pasadena Convention Center.

Other exhibitions include A. Huney Gallery, San Diego, New Mexico Art League, L.A. Artcore, VIVA, Finegood Gallery, Arena One Gallery, Santa Monica, Burbank Art Center, Mar Vista Art Council, TAG Art Gallery, and numerous other venues.
